I can’t imagine any soldier of any other nationality in the world speaking the way Lt. Adam Landau speaks on this video. Explaining how badly he feels about shooting into mosques that Hammas terrorists are shooting from. There’s something beautiful about the way he is able to differentiate so clearly between symbols of religion and the civilian population of Gaza and the Hamas terrorists. He knows what he has to do, and yet realizes that this kind of fighting that has been forced upon him and his fellow soldiers by Hammas is not normal.
The challenge is ours. To be deeply moved by this IDF soldier who knows about combat, who has lost friends in battle and can understand the complexity of the war, and, at the same time, be outraged that somehow this soldier has to “apologize” or explain why it is necessary to do what he does in order to defend himself, his family and his country.
