How Israeli kids react to tragedy

Israeli kids grow up fast. Perhaps too fast. They have to deal with tragedy and loss at a very young age.

How do they deal with friends who have a sibling wounded in the Army? How do Israeli children deal with parents who go off to serve in the Israeli Army reserve every year? They mature young. They do not take their security as a given. It is the Israeli Army with help from Above that protects the Land, and they appreciate it.

Focused Children

But note how the children in this video are not sad. They are not traumatized. They are focused. So many Israeli kids “mobilize” in Israel whenever there is a need. They can’t serve in the Army, but they can encourage the Army. They understand that nobody wants to lose a loved one, and they know that if somebody is unfortunate to lose a loved one, they’ll need some love and encouragement.

Israel’s Future

These children will build the future of the State of Israel.   Perhaps it would be better for these young innocent souls to have a more innocent childhood.  But, we don’t have a choice.  As Golda Meir aptly said,

“We cannot forgive them for forcing us to kill their children. We will only have peace with the Arabs when they love their children more than they hate us.”  The Arab neighbors of the State of Israel have forced children in Israel to deal with life and death issues for the last 100 years.  When these children grow up, they will be ready to serve in the Israeli Defense Forces.
