In 1948, Israel barely had an Air Force. They were basically a small ramshackle bunch of airplane parts put together from World War II leftovers and a person sitting in the back of the planes shooting down with a gun, dropping bombs or dropping seltzer bottles.
But, gradually and rather rapidly, Israel’s Air Force became a fierce group to be reckoned with.
In the 1967 Six Day War, they basically sealed the fate of the 3 attacking armies when they knocked out almost all of the Egyptian, Jordanian, and Syrian Air Forces in a well-executed shock attack. There are those who claim that there was some Divine help in that attack.
Since then, the Israeli Air Force has continued it’s domination in the region despite some setbacks in the early days of the Yom Kippur War.
It is very symbolic that the Land of Israel is protected from above – both from the Divine Watchman and from Israel’s brave Air Force fighters.
