When Denver Broncos Cornerback Chris Harris Jr. came to Israel, he could not believe what he saw in Israel’s backyard. Terrorism. He feels that in America, you hear about ISIS and terror, but you can’t sense how close it is. In Israel though, it is right there. As he said, “I think that’s one thing that kind of changed my perspective on this. It’s right here knocking on the door…”
People all over the world believe Israel is at fault for the struggle in the Middle East. They believe Israel causes “Palestinian” refugees, that Israel oppresses and therefore creates the terrorism – you name it, they believe it. But the more people who come to Israel and see what REALLY goes on, and the more they share the truth, maybe the more the world will stop blaming Israel.
Other NFL Stars in Israel
Chris Harris Jr. is not the first NFL player to come to Israel. In the summer of 2017, NFL Hall of Famer Jerome Bettis and 17 other Pro Football Hall of Famers visited Israel. Bettis thought highly of Israel and was not afraid to say it. Both Harris and Bettis told the world in their own way what really happens in Israel. Despite what people may think, it is definitely not the anti-Israel messages that so many are brainwashed with.
Israel’s Next Door Neighbors
After visiting Israel, Harris realized who Israel’s neighbors are: Hamas. Terrorists. People who want to kill. He gained perspective by being so close and seeing what Israel is up against. As Harris said about Israel’s neighbors, “They’ll do anything to make a way to try to kill.” The NFL star went into a tunnel near Gaza that the IDF recently uncovered. He saw how “regular civilians” face the constant threat and how the IDF has to grapple with it as well.
All it takes is a little time, patience, and willingness to be informed, and maybe more of the world will start to understand what Israel is up against.
