Chiune Sugihara was a diplomat in Kaunas, Lithuania during WWII. He issued visas and saved over 6,000 Jews, despite the fact that Japan was an ally of Germany.
Over 40,000 Jewish descendants today have this brave man to thank.
Despite the risk of helping save Jewish People, Sugihara felt that this was his duty. He said, “I cannot allow these people to die, people who have come to me for help with death staring them in the eyes. Whatever punishment may be imposed upon me, I know I should follow my conscience.”
What an unbelievable hero!
